[vc_row][vc_column][vc_text_separator title=”Duo Xtreme Bonaire Rules 2021″][vc_column_text]All registered participants of the race must check-in at the start table AT LEAST 30 minutes before the start of the race.
Art. 1 Participation must be in teams of two (2) persons with a minimum age of 16 years old each (born before October 2003).
Art. 2 The finishing time of the last arriving duo team member counts as the team’s official time. Individual participation is not accepted.
Art. 3 It is not allowed to change team members. Teams must race with the two (2) participants as stated on the registration form.
Art. 4 A bicycle helmet must be worn and secured by each participant at all times during the race. Failure to do so will result in disqualification from the race.
Art. 5 The official race number must be visibly attached to the front of the bicycle and on the back of each rider’s shirt or water bag at all times during the race. To qualify in the results there must be at least one number tag strapped either on the bike or the participant at the finish line.
Art. 6 Exchange or replacing your bicycle or parts thereof during the race is not allowed. It is not allowed either for duo teams to use outside assistance. Repairs such as changing or fixing inner tubes and repair of tires, pumping, adjustments and cleaning of bicycles must be performed by the rider and/or his/her team member or from other participants in the race. In other words, participants can only receive technical support from other participants.
Art. 7 Participants are not allowed to be pushed or pulled by other vehicles or ride bicycles with any type of engine or use other means other than individual human pedaling.
Note: in the case of broken bicycles or a situation in which a participant(s) cannot continue in the race, volunteers at the water stations or check points can arrange for transportation assistance to the Start-Finish location.
Art. 8 It is not allowed to discard bottles, inner tubes and/or gel packs on the route other than the checkpoints. Please respect Bonaire’s Nature and only discard your waste within visible range of the volunteers at the several checkpoints!
Art. 9 The race will start and finish at Eden Beach Resort. Any deviation from the official race parcourse is not allowed and will result in immediate disqualification. The course will be marked with painted stone piles and signs and arrows indicating the directions.
NOTE: Every participant is encouraged to finish the race at his or her own pace. However, official timing will close at 12 noon, after which the organization is not responsible anymore for providing water a/or controlling the route.
Race results and awards will be announced at 1.30 pm.
Failure to follow any of the rules can result in disqualification. In case of any discrepancy or misinterpretation, race management will make the final decision. Race officials are authorized to inspect bikes, I.D, helmets, clothes, and numbers for compliance to the rules as stated. It is required to wear a helmet during the race and endcaps on handlebars.
